Des Plaines Multicultural Advisory Group

The City of Des Plaines embraces and honors diversity in all forms including: race, ethnicity, gender, transgender, religion, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, ability and disability.

As your Mayor, I'm seeking members of the community to volunteer to serve on a newly formed ad-hoc advisory group whose primary purpose is to celebrate Des Plaines’ diversity and foster a more inclusive community.

The Multicultural Advisory Group should represent our residents’ many different backgrounds and cultures. The group will convene over the next year to:

  • Discuss strengths, weaknesses and opportunities as it relates to diversity, equity and inclusion in Des Plaines
  • Review and assess opportunities to promote, advance and champion diversity, equity and inclusion in the Des Plaines community
  • Provide input and feedback into the City’s interactions with our diverse population, identifying what the City does well, and what we need to improve.

The outcome of this effort will be a list of recommendations and opportunities that I will share with the City Council for consideration and possible future action.

Want to join the Des Plaines Multicultural Advisory Group?

Please send a letter of interest along with your resume to:

Director of Media Services

We plan to hold meetings no more than one time per month in the evenings.

Thank you for your interest.

Sincerely,

Andrew Goczkowski
Des Plaines Mayor
